Our large, well-ventilated, oceanfront house is situated on the Ile d'Ngor, just off the coast of Dakar and only 15 minutes from the International Airport. The island has a right hand reef/point wave (as surfed in Endless Summer) and a left hand reef/point that is also excellent. Within 20 minutes of driving there are nearly ten high quality reefbreaks and the swell window of Dakar is huge. We live in a large house just 15 meters from the ocean (and a super dodgy lefthand reefbreak that people rarely surf). We are largely off-grid: solar energy, gas fridge with a city water connect. There's two rooms with large beds and large living spaces upstairs and downstairs. From the kitchen/bar, you can watch the waves and decide when to jump in the water. The solar energy system runs our 12 volt stereo system which is sufficient for any partying that we're okay with you having. The system will also charge your basic electronics (we'll guide you on purchasing the right 12volt chargers to make it stretch). No TV in house, no A/C; but we get good winds and have a small 12 volt fan. Only between August and October would you need fans anyways, the rest of the time it's temperate. We have a full time live-in security guard with his own house on the compound and a housekeeper who visits three times a week and who can assist with shopping for fruits, vegetables and seafood. Also, we could potentially help you to negotiate an arrangement with the proprietor if you want him to clue you into good sessions and maybe let you on the boat when they go searching--if they aren't full up.
